Job Description: Manufacturing Engineer at Fluke Norwich

A typical day for a Fluke Norwich Manufacturing Engineer (ME) begins with a Daily Management Team meeting to review past activities and plan for the day. The focus is on supporting the Production Team in solving daily issues to ensure continuous manufacturing, including addressing machine breakdowns, component evaluations, productivity improvements, and Kaizen activities aimed at increasing Roll Through Yield (RTY).

RTY is the primary KPI for the ME, reported monthly to Senior Leadership along with countermeasures and a 5Y analysis to address gaps. Projects to improve RTY and productivity run concurrently, from simple assembly enhancements to automation solutions.

The role involves owning, maintaining, and improving manufacturability of products through design, troubleshooting, upgrading, and documentation of manufacturing processes, exploring new technologies for efficiency gains.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily engineering support in production for existing products.
  • Evaluate and improve production lines, advising on manufacturability and equipment needs.
  • Ensure smooth transition of new products into manufacturing.
  • Coordinate engineering investigations and pilot runs.
  • Conduct tests to determine process control and improvements.
  • Maintain active communication with Engineering and Production teams.
Requirements:
  • BSc in Electronics or HND in Electronic Engineering.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in production engineering or similar.
  • Knowledge of electronic engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with LabView, Test Stand, or similar software.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen.
