The Composite Manufacturing Engineer will own and develop designated composite manufacturing processes and products, ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable production that meets quality, cost, and delivery objectives.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support development, implementation, and continuous improvement of composite manufacturing processes.
• Own assigned products and processes to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, process specs, SOPs, PFMEAs, and control plans.
• Collaborate with NPI, Engineering, Production, and Quality to support design reviews and readiness.
• Lead process validation activities including first article inspection and readiness reviews.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to production to resolve issues and minimise disruption.
• Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Apply lean, Six Sigma, SPC and data analysis to reduce variation and improve efficiency.
• Develop and validate manufacturing solutions, tooling, and fixtures for lay-up, curing, trimming, bonding, assembly and finishing operations.
• Identify opportunities for automation and cycle-time reduction.
• Ensure processes comply with customer requirements, industry standards and audits.
• Coordinate engineering changes and support training as required.

Main Purpose of the Job

The Composite Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for owning and developing designated composite manufacturing processes and products, ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable production that meets quality, cost, and delivery objectives. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role works closely with Production, Quality, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to industrialise new products, optimise existing manufacturing processes, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

The successful candidate will serve as the technical focal point for assigned products and processes, applying lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve process capability, reduce variability, and enhance product conformance. This position plays a key role in supporting manufacturing readiness, resolving production challenges, implementing engineering changes, and delivering operational excellence within a fast-paced composite manufacturing environment.

Main Task of the Job

• Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of composite manufacturing processes.
• Own assigned products and processes, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved throughout the product lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, process specifications, standard operating procedures, PFMEAs, and control plans.
• Collaborate with NPI, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to support design reviews, product industrialisation, and production readiness.
• Lead process validation activities, including first article inspections, process qualification, and readiness reviews.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to production teams, resolving manufacturing issues and minimising disruption.
• Investigate non-conformances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Apply lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, statistical process control, and production data analysis to reduce variation, improve capability, and increase efficiency.
• Develop and validate manufacturing solutions, tooling, and fixtures for composite lay-up, curing, trimming, bonding, assembly, and finishing operations.
• Identify and deliver opportunities for automation, tooling improvement, process optimisation, waste reduction, and cycle time improvement.
• Ensure manufacturing processes comply with customer requirements, industry standards, company procedures, and audit expectations.
• Coordinate engineering changes, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and support training or mentoring where required.
