Job summary

Russell Taylor is recruiting a Manufacturing Assistant Financial Controller in Chester to lead the finance team and strengthen the UK operation.

The role combines financial and management accounting, manufacturing finance, financial controls and team leadership to support reporting and governance for the wider group.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Strong manufacturing finance experience.
• Proven experience managing and coaching a finance team.
• Strong SOX experience including controls, testing and remediation.
• Experience working across multi-sites or with international exposure.
• Excellent Excel and ERP system proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, providing coaching, support and direction.
• Oversee monthly management accounts, month-end and financial reporting.
• Support manufacturing costing, inventory, GIP and variance analysis.
• Work closely with production and operational teams to understand costs and improve financial performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and group reporting.
• Own and strengthen local financial controls within a SOX environment.
• Support SOX testing, internal/external audits and control remediation.
• Work with US finance teams on group reporting, processes and finance transformation projects.
• Drive continuous improvement across the finance function.

Manufacturing Assistant Financial Controller

Are you a qualified finance professional with strong manufacturing experience, proven people management skills and a solid background in SOX controls?

We are looking for a Manufacturing Assistant Financial Controller to join a growing manufacturing business, operating as part of a rapidly expanding group.

This is a hands‑on finance leadership role, combining financial and management accounting, manufacturing finance, financial controls and team management. You will play a key role in strengthening the finance function, improving processes and ensuring the UK operation meets the reporting and governance requirements of the wider group.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, providing coaching, support and direction.
• Oversee monthly management accounts, month-end and financial reporting.
• Support manufacturing costing, inventory, WIP and variance analysis.
• Work closely with production and operational teams to understand costs and improve financial performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and group reporting.
• Own and strengthen local financial controls within a SOX environment.
• Support SOX testing, internal/external audits and control remediation.
• Work with US finance teams on group reporting, processes and finance transformation projects.
• Drive continuous improvement across the finance function.

The Person

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Strong manufacturing finance experience.
• Proven experience managing, coaching and developing a finance team.
• Strong SOX experience, including controls, testing, audit and remediation.
• Good understanding of management accounting, financial accounting and manufacturing costs.
• Experience working on Multi-sites or international exposure.
• Strong Excel and ERP experience.
