Job summary

NMS Recruit Ltd t/a Russell Taylor Group in Chester is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team in a brand-new, on-site role. The position offers exposure to management accounting, manufacturing finance, inventory and financial reporting, with scope to develop as the business grows.

The successful candidate will support monthly management accounts, month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations while collaborating with production and procurement teams.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with month-end processes.
• Good understanding of double-entry accounting and reconciliations.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting.
• Assist with month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Support inventory and manufacturing accounting, including stock reconciliations and variances.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.

Assistant Management Accountant

£42,000 | Chester | On-site | Permanent

Join a growing manufacturing business in a brand-new role.

Due to continued growth and an increasingly busy site we are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team and support the Senior Management Accountant.

This is a newly created position offering excellent exposure across management accounting, manufacturing finance, inventory and financial reporting, with plenty of opportunity to develop as the business continues to grow.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting
• Assisting with month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Supporting inventory and manufacturing accounting, including stock reconciliations and variances
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Supporting audit, VAT and wider financial control activities
• Working closely with production, procurement and operational teams
• Helping improve finance processes as the business continues to grow

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, with good exposure to bookkeeping and month-end processes.
• Ideally, AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA, but this isn't essential. The business will support professional study for the right person.
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
• Good understanding of double-entry accounting and reconciliations
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• The confidence to work with both finance and non-finance teams
• Ideally, experience within manufacturing, engineering or another stock-based environment
