Brook Street is seeking a Manufacturing Assistant (Factory) in Ross-shire, UK to join a close-knit team focused on practical engineering, improvements, and safety. You’ll support daily production, troubleshoot issues, and help colleagues to ensure reliable outputs.

Qualifications

Manufacturing Assistant (Factory) - Ross-shire, UK

Join a close-knit manufacturing team, where practical engineering, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture are at the heart of day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping production running smoothly, troubleshooting issues quickly, and supporting colleagues to deliver reliable output.

You’ll be part of a small team where your contribution is visible, your skills are valued, and improvements you make can directly impact efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Our client would even consider an entry level staff member, a school leave who is showing a willingness to join a production environment, learn for the team colleagues and grow with the company.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out routine checks, inspections, and maintenance activities to keep equipment operating to specification.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out first-line troubleshooting on production plant and associated systems.
  • Assist with planned maintenance schedules and help coordinate downtime to minimise disruption.
  • Monitor process performance and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and throughput.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and any corrective actions taken.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Work closely with the wider team to support smooth handovers between shifts and departments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in an operations, production, or technician role within a manufacturing environment beneficial.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills, with the ability to identify root causes.
  • Working knowledge of basic industrial maintenance practices, including preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information such as equipment documentation, work instructions, and maintenance logs.
  • Competence in using standard workshop tools and common test equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements in a manufacturing setting, including safe isolation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small team.
