We offer competitive entry salaries and fully support your academic learning through to qualifications, with salary increases as you progress.

Whether leaving School or College with GCSEs/Standards, A ‘Levels/Highers (or equivalent) or in work and looking for a new career path, you are fully supported as you rotate within the business working on real-time projects alongside highly skilled professionals who are passionate about their work. We support helping you settle into your new location ensuring you are familiar with the team and have a warm welcome from day 1. There is a member of our Apprentice team at each site, helping you progress, ensuring your study time is protected, enabling access to digital learning as well as opportunities to get involved with the local community and STEM projects, enhancing many aspects of each programme.

As a Manufacturing Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to work in state-of-the-art facilities. Depending on your role, you may work in an office, laboratory, or a combination of both. There might also be opportunities to travel between the Company's UK sites to collaborate with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.

Years 1 and 2:

During your first year you will spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship. Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements within some of the following departments: Manufacturing Workshop, QA, Planning and Integration, and Testing. During your second year you will attend college on a day release basis to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the knowledge qualification of your apprenticeship, and continue with your rotational placements.

Years 3 and 4:

In your 3rd year you will continue to rotate around different departments, gaining further knowledge of the company and developing your technical hands-on skills. Your 3rd year will also see you through the workplace portfolio phase of your level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the competence qualification of your apprenticeship. For your final year you will specialise in your chosen area, based on your experience throughout your rotational placements, and you will also complete the End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship in Engineering Technical Support (Apprenticeship Standard Ref: ST0457).

During your apprenticeship, you will:

  • Grow your knowledge of an engineering business and what the role of a technician is by being part of an Integrated Project Team.
  • Develop practical skills in manufacturing and understanding key processes and technologies.
  • Support early careers activities - our apprentices have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges, and universities.

Requirements:
