• Proven experience in manual turning and milling.
• Strong CNC milling programming, setting, and operation skills.
• Experience using CAD software within precision engineering.
• Ability to read 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
• Ability to work to tight tolerances independently.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate manual turning and milling machines.
• Programme, set and operate CNC milling machines.
• Interpret, prepare and modify drawings using CAD.
• Manufacture components from 2D/3D drawings.
• Produce one-off parts, prototypes and small batches.
• Select cutting tools, speeds, and feeds.
• Machining to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Carry out dimensional inspections with precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized workshop.

Manual Turner & Miller / CNC Milling Programmer

Location: Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire

Salary: £18.00 - £25.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Holiday: Standard annual leave entitlement, including bank holidays

Our client is an established, family-run precision engineering company based in Letchworth Garden City. They are looking for an experienced Manual Turner & Miller / CNC Milling Programmer with CAD experience to join their friendly and skilled engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys varied work, producing high-quality precision components and being involved in the machining process from drawing through to finished product.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate manual turning and milling machines.
• Programme, set and operate CNC milling machines.
• Use CAD software to interpret, prepare and modify engineering drawings.
• Work from 2D and 3D CAD drawings to manufacture precision components.
• Produce one-off components, prototypes and small-batch production runs.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds and feeds.
• Machine components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
• Carry out dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in manual turning and milling.
• Strong CNC milling programming, setting and operating skills.
