Jiggle in Sheffield is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist or Toolmaker for a 3-month temporary position with the potential to become permanent. You will operate manual lathes and milling machines, produce components to tight tolerances, and read engineering drawings.

The role offers 38 hours per week, £16-£18 per hour, and a route to a permanent job with standard holiday entitlement and pension. You will work at Kelham Island, Sheffield.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Manual Machinist or Toolmaker to join an established engineering business based in Kelham Island, Sheffield.

This is initially a 3-month temporary position, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.

The business is looking for a skilled operator who can confidently work with manual machinery and produce quality components to the required specifications.

The Role

• Operating manual lathes and milling machines.


• Machining components to engineering specifications.


• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.


• Setting up machinery and selecting appropriate tooling.


• Ensuring accuracy and quality throughout the machining process.


• Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Manual Machinist, Toolmaker or similar.


• Confident operating manual lathes and milling machines.


• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.


• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently.
