Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Manual Machinist.
• Strong practical experience with manual milling and manual centre lathes.
• Ability to work from engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of machining techniques, tooling and materials.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual milling machines to produce components from engineering drawings.
• Set up and operate manual centre lathes for turning, facing, boring, threading and general machining.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Select cutting tools, speeds and feeds for different materials and operations.
• Use micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Produce one-off and small-batch components to required tolerances.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality and drawing requirements.
• Carry out general workshop duties, including basic machine maintenance, tool care and housekeeping.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.

An established engineering business is looking for an experienced Manual Machinist to join its workshop team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist with strong experience in manual milling and centre lathe work, particularly someone who enjoys producing quality one-off and small-batch components to drawing and specification.

The Role

You will be responsible for setting and operating manual milling machines and centre lathes to produce accurate components across a range of engineering applications.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Setting and operating manual milling machines to produce components from engineering drawings.
• Setting and operating manual centre lathes for turning, facing, boring, threading and general machining operations.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Selecting appropriate cutting tools, speeds and feeds for different materials and machining operations.
• Using micrometers, verniers, gauges and other precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy.
• Producing one-off and small-batch components to required tolerances.
• Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality and drawing requirements.
