Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor for the Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team to help deliver the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project and other flagship energy schemes.

You will be based at flexible locations (Leeds, Newcastle or NZT project office) with hybrid working and regular site presence, leading commercial delivery, NEC contract administration and value-for-money assurance.

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• NEC contract administration experience is essential.
• Strong commercial awareness and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Experience of NEC contract administration and management.
• Measure, record and value work unsupervised using rules and procedures.
• Prepare payment applications, data assurance and final accounts.
• Use project accounting systems, monitor costs and cost/value reconciliations.
• Review programmes and plan commercial activities to meet timelines.
• End-to-end supplier procurement and contract administration for value for money.
• Identify and manage risk with the project team.
• Support development of team members and provide guidance.
• Hold or work towards RICS or equivalent professional membership.

About The Role

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor within our Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business, you'll play a key role in delivering Net Zero Teesside (NZT), one of the UK's flagship energy infrastructure projects.

Flexible base locations: Leeds (Thorpe Park), Newcastle (Quorum Business Park) or the NZT Project Office.

We offer hybrid working; however, regular site presence is essential. We're looking for a commercially driven leader who enjoys working closely with operational teams, building strong stakeholder relationships, and helping to deliver a landmark project that will shape the future of UK energy.

What you'll be doing

• Experience of NEC contract administration and management
• Measure, record and value work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
• Composition of applications for payment, data assurance/analysis and final account procedures
• Use and manage project accounting systems, monitor costs, and produce cost vs value reconciliations
• Review programmes of works and plan commercial activities to meet the requirements of programmes
• End to end supplier procurement, supply chain management, contract administration and value for money assurance
• Actively identity, communicate and manage risk in collaboration with the project team
• Support the development of other team members and provide professional guidance
• Hold or be working towards professional membership from the RICS or equivalent
