Position: Managing QS
Location: Hampton or Rickmansworth with hybrid working available
Salary: £80k - 90k (Neg DOE), car allowance and excellent benefits package or £(Apply online only) per day inside IR35
Overview
Our Client is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector, with over 1,400 staff across eight regional centres, primarily supporting six long‑term water sector frameworks and increasingly working in joint ventures and alliances.
Responsibilities
- Provide commercial management and leadership to the commercial delivery teams and core commercial functions for the client’s business.
- Drive commercial excellence into project delivery, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and protection of fee at all times.
- Develop and foster relationships with clients and subcontractors to aid delivery and contract negotiation.
- Provide commercial support to procurement, ensuring value for money at all times.
- Negotiate with clients, ensuring adherence to the client’s governance.
- Continuously review commercial resource levels, participating in recruitment to ensure effective and efficient delivery.
- Support the Commercial Manager in delivering contractual and commercial training to all staff in the region.
- Assist in reviewing and continuously developing commercial processes and procedures.
- Undertake approvals and other processes as required.
- Deputise for the Commercial Manager when required.
- Assist in the management and development of junior commercial staff.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure business requirements are met.
Qualifications / Experience
- Degree qualified or equivalent in quantity surveying or related discipline.
- Experience in utilities, civil engineering, MEICA sectors.
- NEC3/IChemE experience.
- Experience managing commercial teams.
- Extensive commercial experience within a contracting environment.
- Senior management experience with demonstrated leadership qualities promoting excellence.
- Proficiency in contract management and risk assessment.
- Experience and knowledge of IT reporting systems.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable
- Working towards or having chartered membership of a recognised institution.
- Experience of managing and developing an individual or small team.
- Experience of managing a portfolio of works with multiple stakeholders.
