Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and commercial management principles
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially driven with the ability to influence business performance
- Full UK Driving Licence
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to maximise project profitability
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Ensure projects are delivered within budgets and target margins
- Oversee valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
- Drive commercial performance across multiple projects
- Lead the commercial elements of new project opportunities
- Oversee estimates, cost planning and tender submissions
- Develop procurement strategies
- Support contract negotiations and project acquisition
- Contribute to the business's ongoing growth strategy
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and junior commercial staff
- Provide guidance on commercial best practice
- Promote consistent reporting and commercial processes
- Assist in developing a high-performing commercial team
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients
- Manage relationships with subcontractors, consultants and supply chain partners
- Work closely with Directors on commercial reporting and business planning
- Act as a senior commercial representative for the business

Our client is a thriving construction contractor experiencing sustained growth, with a strong pipeline of projects across the Commercial, Industrial, Leisure and Education sectors. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to appoint an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their Manchester office and play a key role in shaping the commercial success of the business.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially astute professional who wants more than project delivery. You'll influence business strategy, mentor the next generation of surveyors and become a key part of the senior leadership team.
With the current Commercial Manager approaching retirement, the successful candidate will be well-positioned to progress into an even more senior leadership role in the future.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager and Directors, you will take responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple projects while helping drive business growth and profitability.
Working across projects predominantly in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, with occasional UK-wide schemes, you'll oversee both pre-construction and live project delivery whilst providing commercial leadership across the wider team.

- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead within the construction industry
- Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and commercial management principles
