Job summary

Equans, based in Hatfield, is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial operations across projects in London and the South East. You will be located at head office and travel to sites weekly, delivering profitability and contractual compliance in a full-time role.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying, senior surveying experience, and familiarity with JCT/NEC/PPC contracts, alongside strong communication and IT skills. A UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
• Experience in a senior surveying position reporting to a commercial manager or director.
• Experience with JCT, NEC, PPC forms of contract.
• Wide experience in a Main Contracting Commercial role.
• Excellent verbal communication, numerical, and negotiation/influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all commercial elements of large projects or a suite of projects and influence regional commercial performance.
• Support the regional Board of Directors in identifying and managing risk, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Aspire to the highest standards of commercial leadership and decisiveness to deliver best outcomes.
• Maintain strong relationships with external parties to promote teamwork and collaboration.
• Understand and adhere to SHEQ policy and lead by example in all SHEQ matters.

Equans is looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our team. You will be based in our head office in Hatfield whilst attending our sites across London and South East on a weekly basis. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle and benefits package.

What will you deliver?

• The role will oversee all commercial elements of either a large single project or a suite of projects together with holding a wider interest in the overall commercial performance of the Region, maximising profitability, protecting the company’s legal and contractual obligations and leading on all financial and commercial issues.
• Provide support to the regional Board of Directors in identifying and managing risk, with all relevant mitigation measures in place, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting at all times.
• Aspire to the highest standards of commercial leadership and behaviours, acting decisively and promptly to achieve the best outcomes for the company.
• Maintain, promote and retain strong relationships with external parties, providing mutual benefits and promoting teamwork and co-operation across all departments.
• Understand and adhere to the company Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policy and strategy, setting a positive and proactive example in all SHEQ-related matters.

Who are you?

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or appropriate alternative.
• Experience within a senior surveying position reporting to either a commercial manager or director.
• Demonstrable experience in relevant forms of contract including JCT / NEC / PPC.
• Wide experience in a relevant Main Contracting Commercial role.
• Excellence verbal communication skills, numerical skills and negotiation/influencing skills.
• Good IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Project, Word etc.
• Full UK driving licence.
