Qualifications

• NEC3/NEC4 contract experience and governance.
• Background in Infrastructure, Utilities, Power, Substations, BESS or MV/HV Transmission.
• Strong negotiation with senior clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
• Advanced Excel and CVR software proficiency.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial performance across HV, substation and BESS projects, protecting and maximising gross margin.
• Own subcontract strategy — drafting, negotiation, valuations, programme reviews and KPI management.
• Act as the commercial escalation point for NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Options A, C & E), managing Compensation Events, variations, early warnings and risk registers.
• Drive robust CVRs, cash flow forecasting and commercial reporting up to UK and Group HQ leadership.
• Get ahead of disputes through proactive claims management and negotiation.
• Support tender-stage commercial input and risk identification on future EPC bids.
• Mentor and develop junior QS team members as the team scales.

Managing Quantity Surveyor – MV/HV, BESS & Substations - Glasgow

Eden Global is proud to be working exclusively on behalf of our client, to find a Managing Quantity Surveyor to help build and lead their new Special Projects commercial team in Glasgow.

About the Role

Our client is entering a major growth phase, they've recently secured two frameworks in Scotland, a growing pipeline of BESS and Substation projects in England, and four large-scale developments in Ireland. They're now building a high-performing commercial team from the ground up in Glasgow, and this hire will be central to it.

As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you'll act as commercial lead across major high-voltage, substation and BESS projects — owning full-lifecycle commercial governance, managing bespoke contracts, protecting margins, and shaping commercial strategy on multi-million-pound energy transition assets. You'll work closely with the Division Commercial Manager (UK&I), mentor junior QS staff, and lead key stakeholder relationships across the UK and Ireland.

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

• Practical experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts
• Background in Infrastructure, Utilities, Power, Substations, BESS or MV/HV Transmission (highly advantageous)
• Strong negotiation skills with senior clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence with commercial/CVR software
• A degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland as needed
