Job summary

The Clancy Group Limited, a leading UK construction firm, is seeking a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor to drive commercial excellence across utilities and civil projects. You will manage subcontractors, oversee valuations and disputes, and support the Commercial Manager while maintaining rigorous risk and cost controls.

You will apply advanced commercial awareness, analytical skills and strong communication to deliver practical solutions and lead junior colleagues through complex contracts

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision making.
• Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor with NEC ECC3/ECC4 knowledge.
• Experience delivering high-value, complex construction projects in utilities or civil engineering.
• Subcontract management expertise and regular site travel with UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage subcontractors and accounts on projects.
• Support the Commercial Manager and the commercial team.
• Manage client disputes and internal auditing.
• Maintain the commercial risk register.
• Oversee weekly valuations and confirm measurement accuracy.
• Conduct cost analysis and drive cost reduction initiatives.
• Review contracts and perform rates analysis.
• Produce CVRs for all projects.

• Management of subcontractors and accounts
• Supporting the Commercial Manager and contributing to the management of the commercial team
• Management of client disputes and internal auditing
• Maintaining the commercial risk register
• Overseeing weekly valuations and confirming the accuracy of measurements
• Cost analysis and cost reduction initiatives
• Contract review and rates analysis
• Production of CVRs for all projects

The role requires strong analytical skills, with demonstrable experience in making sound commercial decisions informed by both practical experience and data intelligence.

You will possess excellent attention to detail alongside the ability to prioritise workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment.

You are a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor and are ready to be a part of a team that is driving positive change and making a significant impact on the future of infrastructure.

You will have advanced commercial awareness and the ability to analyse complex problems and deliver practical solutions.

You will demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills, with experience effectively conveying key commercial messages to a range of stakeholders.

In-depth knowledge of NEC ECC3 and ECC4 contracts is essential, alongside subcontract management expertise and experience delivering high-value, complex construction projects within the utilities or civil engineering sector.

Experience developing junior colleagues and supporting high-performing teams is desirable. A relevant degree or significant experience in a similar position is essential. A UK driving licence is also required, as the role will involve regular travel between sites.
