Job summary

BDO UK in London is seeking a Managing Director in our M&A team to lead sell-side and buy-side advisory engagements, originating relationships and delivering high-value mandates.

You will oversee project delivery, collaborate with Partners and private equity clients, and mentor junior staff, while navigating regulatory regimes.

Strong commercial acumen, an ACA/ACCA qualification, and a proven track record in corporate finance are essential.

Qualifications

• Extensive direct experience leading sell-side and/or buy-side corporate finance advisory.
• ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent), or relevant work experience.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, including demanding deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients and teams.
• Strong commercial awareness with a track record of growing and developing business.
• Previous staff supervision or management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead origination and conversion of target relationships into engaged mandates with Partners.
• Oversee day-to-day project delivery and manage project teams across engagements.

As a Managing Director in our M&A team you'll manage a team and the delivery of projects on a day-to-day basis. You'll generate business utilising external and internal relationships in your sector/region to lead on the origination and conversion of target relationships into engaged mandates alongside Partners. You'll leverage a strong understanding of, and experience in, the field of corporate finance for both buy-side and sell-side work, involving private and public companies, owner-managed businesses and private equity houses.

Requirements:

• Extensive direct experience of sell-side and/or buy-side corporate finance advisory activities. Your experience will include having led projects to a successful close and will have involved working with private companies, owner-managed businesses and private equity houses
• ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent), or relevant work experience.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to work across several projects and occasionally handle pressurised situations
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong commercial awareness with a background of growing and developing business
• Previous staff supervision or management experience
• For those involved in plc activities, a developing knowledge of relevant regulatory regimes.
