Job description

MANAGING DIRECTOR

We are currently seeking a Managing Director and a strong Criminal Solicitor/Advocate for an exciting role in either West or Central London.

Main Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Collaborate with the Board and Head of Department.
  • Oversee all Branch Offices and manage staff working there.
  • Manage and oversee complex criminal matters.
  • Handle all aspects of assigned criminal work, providing technical expertise and guidance to team members when appropriate.
  • Supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, managing caseloads of varying types and complexities.
  • Assist in delivering training and development within the department.
  • Handle a variety of criminal defence cases, including private and Legal Aid cases.
  • Manage complex and sensitive cases such as bail applications, serious fraud, white-collar crime, murder, drug crime, and theft; liaise with CPS and courts; prepare statements and collate evidence.
  • Handle emergency cases.
  • Represent clients detained at police stations, conduct advocacy in Magistrates' and Crown Courts, and attend to clients both in and outside office hours.
  • Maintain a professional, proactive approach with strong client care skills, and contribute to business development and marketing efforts to support the firm's substantial work volume.

Key Skills Required:

  • Accredited for duty and police station work.
  • Higher rights of advocacy qualification (preferably).
  • Highly committed and driven.
  • Must hold a valid Practising Certificate at application time.
  • Strong management skills.
  • Team player with adaptability to new challenges.
  • Proven supervisory experience in a similar role.
  • Professional, proactive, with excellent client care skills, especially in handling vulnerable clients with sensitivity.
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, with the ability to market the company and generate new business.
