What you’ll be doing

Join Group Retail Products and play a pivotal role in helping the Society achieve its strategic objectives while maintaining a strong and effective risk environment. Working closely with business and change teams, you will ensure risks arising from a varied integration agenda are identified, understood and appropriately managed. You will provide expert risk and regulatory product guidance, support project discussions, and help maintain an accurate and robust risk profile across key initiatives.

In this highly collaborative role, you will partner with stakeholders across Customer Resolutions and Retail Services, delivering valuable conduct, operational and regulatory risk insight that enables informed decision making and supports the Society's ambitions. You will oversee risk and control profiles, contribute to project forums and committees, monitor regulatory and legislative developments, and work with risk owners to ensure effective controls and mitigation strategies remain in place.

You will also have the opportunity to deputise for the Head of Risk, representing the function at senior committees and forums, leading meetings, contributing to key projects, and providing coaching and guidance to colleagues. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and experienced risk professional who thrives on building relationships, influencing stakeholders, and making a meaningful impact across the business.

About you

We’re looking for a self-motivated, highly organised and proactive risk professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and can confidently build relationships across a broad stakeholder network. As a minimum, you'll have:

Recent practitioner-level experience within savings and current accounts, working in a first-line risk environment

Strong expertise in conduct and regulatory risk management, with the ability to interpret and apply risk policies and regulatory requirements effectively

Proven experience as a risk management subject matter expert, providing accurate, pragmatic and commercially focused risk advice

Experience supporting product governance, customer outcomes and change initiatives, ideally including data migrations or complex transformation programmes

Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and engage effectively with colleagues and senior leaders at all levels

A logical, inquisitive and analytical mindset, with the ability to cut through complexity, challenge constructively and identify practical solutions

A track record of demonstrating sound judgement, decisiveness and strong time management skills, delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
