Job summary

A leading company is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll activities for the UK, EMEA, and APAC regions. The successful applicant will lead a dedicated team, ensure compliance with payroll regulations, and drive continuous improvements. Candidates should have a degree and 4-5 years of payroll experience, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years experience in Payroll required.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems (Safeguard, ADP, WORKDAY) preferred.
  • Previous team leadership experience important.

Responsibilities
  1. Point of contact for UK, EMEA and APAC payrolls region related activities and initiatives.
  2. Oversee and supervise the team’s activities and initiatives by establishing team’s goals and monitoring key metrics, analysis, and reporting.
  3. Lead and supervise the payroll team of 4 staff by maintaining WFS payroll deadlines.
  4. Ability to process payrolls across UK, EMEA and APAC region (27 countries).
  5. Review payroll data of other members of the Payroll team before signing off.
  6. Ensure service levels are met and act as the point of contact for any escalated payroll queries.
  7. Administer the Year End tax filings and disbursement of employee forms for all applicable countries.
  8. Support all relevant Finance/Accounting teams with reconciliations or general Payroll queries by maintaining accurate General Ledger journal entries (salaries, pension, taxes, and social security) into Oracle financials at a company and employee level.
  9. Administer UK relief-at-source and salary sacrifice pension schemes and manage timely upload of employee and employer contributions into personal schemes for all legal entities, in line with auto-enrolment legislation.
  10. Handle and store sensitive information from multiple sources, both internal and external, in line with GDPR regulations.
  11. Administer expatriate-related payroll activities and coordinate with external tax vendors as needed.
  12. Maintain the EMEA/APAC shared Payroll Inbox, working to a maximum 24-hour response time, supporting employees with pay-related queries.
  13. Maintain strong relationships with corporate staff: Accounting, Internal Audit, Financial Planning & Analysis, and People/HR.
  14. Maintain SOX controls and coordinate annual testing and reporting with Internal/External Auditors.
  15. Train and assist junior staff.
  16. Articulate complicated information to non-Payroll experts.
  17. Liaise with stakeholders and manage expectations.
  18. Lead continuous process improvements using new and existing technologies (automation and robotics).
  19. Mentor, coach, and develop employees through orientation, training, policy communication, and constructive discipline, fostering morale and retention.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • CIPP qualification preferred.
  • 4-5 years experience in Payroll.
  • Knowledge of Safeguard, ADP Streamline, and WORKDAY systems highly desirable.
  • International experience preferred.
  • Previous team leadership experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; willing to adopt new technologies.
