Job summary

ICAEW is seeking an Accounts Manager to lead a portfolio of clients, providing statutory accounts support and business advisory input. The role requires strong client relationship experience and a track record in portfolio management.

You will manage and develop a team, review work, and identify opportunities for advisory services, all within a hybrid working setup and a Top 10 firm environment.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification preferred; candidates qualified by experience considered.
• Strong background in accountancy practice with client relationship management experience.
• Experience leading teams or managing portfolios is highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of clients and act as trusted contact for statutory accounts and business advisory needs.
• Manage and develop a team, reviewing work and supporting progression.
• Build relationships with business owners and senior client contacts.
• Review statutory and consolidated accounts and discuss financial performance and business plans.
• Identify opportunities to provide additional advisory services and manage workflow, deadlines, and billing.

Are you an experienced Accounts Manager looking for a role with genuine progression, greater client exposure and the opportunity to develop beyond traditional accounts work?

Hays is working with a leading accountancy firm that is continuing to grow its Accounting & Business Advisory team. They are looking to appoint at either Manager or Senior Manager level, depending on experience. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships with clients and wants a broader role combining portfolio management, advisory work, team leadership and commercial responsibility.

The role

You will take ownership of an established portfolio of clients, becoming a trusted point of contact and supporting them with both their statutory accounts requirements and wider business needs.You will also:

• Manage and develop a team, reviewing work and supporting their progression
• Build strong relationships with business owners and senior client contacts
• Review statutory and consolidated accounts
• Help clients understand their financial performance, cash flow and business plans
• Identify opportunities to provide additional advisory services
• Manage workflow, deadlines, WIP and billing across your portfolio
• Play an active role in the continued growth and development of the team

What we're looking for

You will ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified, although candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.You'll have a strong background within accountancy practice, with experience managing client relationships and reviewing accounts. Previous team or portfolio management experience would be particularly useful.Most importantly, the firm is looking for someone who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to develop into a broader commercial and advisory role, rather than simply producing accounts.
