The Royal Caribbean Group’s (Safety & Marine Standards) Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Manager of Shore-Based Maritime Training & Cadet Programming reporting to the Director of Marine Operations.

Position is onsite and based in Weybridge, UK.

Position Summary:

The Manager of Shore-Based Maritime Training & Cadet Programming is responsible for overseeing and managing the development and implementation of shoreside training programs for shipboard positions. Additionally, this role will develop and implement a cadet training program that drives greater cadet development and ultimately drives higher cadet retention. This role requires collaboration with various departments and stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of training initiatives. The position is a member of the Safety & Marine Standards division within the Global Marine Operations department of Royal Caribbean Group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Optimize training program budgets to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
  2. Create and manage training schedules to ensure timely delivery of courses and programs.
  3. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and support for training initiatives.
  4. Conduct quality assurance assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Oversee officer assessments to ensure compliance with corporate marine management training initiatives.
  6. Develop and implement a comprehensive cadet training program that promotes greater retention and success.
  7. Explore opportunities to create shore-based training courses to enhance the skills and knowledge and promote the continuous improvement of shore-based marine management positions (e.g., Port Captain, Ship Manager, DPA, Superintendent, Surveyor, etc.).
  8. Collaborate with HR colleagues to support university relationships and recruit cadets for training programs.
  9. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., maritime studies, education, human resources).
  2. Proven experience in developing and implementing training programs, preferably in the maritime industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of shore-based management positions and cadet training requirements.
  4. Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  5. Effective communication and relationship management abilities.
  6. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  7. Familiarity with marine operations and classification societies is a plus.
  8. In-depth understanding of shore-based training methodologies and best practices.
  9. Proficiency in budget management and optimization.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  12. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
