Job summary

EY is seeking a Manager - Data Governance to lead governance engagements for clients from our Belfast or Derry/Londonderry offices. You will shape practical operating models, own data quality, lineage and stewardship, and drive delivery that aligns with regulatory requirements and business objectives.

You will coach teams, engage senior stakeholders, and develop opportunities for data governance services while building EY's brand and capabilities in the Data & AI practice.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Significant experience in data governance, data management, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience with common data governance methodologies such as DAMA – DMBOK2.
• Proven experience leading complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Practical knowledge of governance operating models and core data governance principles.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Ability to manage delivery while maintaining a strong client experience.
• Experience coaching and developing others, to support team growth.
• Experience implementing Data Governance tooling, including Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, or Data Quality platforms.
• Experience supporting data-related regulatory, compliance, privacy, or risk management initiatives.
• Experience establishing Data Ownership, Data Stewardship, and Data Governance Councils across complex organisations.
• Experience contributing to business development, proposition development, thought leadership, or go-to-market initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead data governance engagements from initial assessment through design and implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Help clients establish clear governance operating models with clear ownership and accountability for data.
• Lead governance work across domains such as data quality and lineage to maximize value and trust in data.
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, and resources.
• Facilitate discussions with senior stakeholders, turning complex requirements into clear decisions and roadmaps.
• Champion operational efficiency improvements on projects and internal initiatives and drive delivery to completion.
• Create innovative insights that add value to clients and society.
• Identify opportunities to expand EY’s data governance services across offerings.
• Contribute to the broader Data & AI team by sharing knowledge and building brand.
• Establish and strengthen internal and external relationships to support growth.
• Identify opportunities for EY to incubate new data solutions and services.
• Lead technology consulting engagements, manage team performance, and contribute to performance feedback.
• Oversee engagement billings and estimates to completion.
• Lead and mentor staff, fostering a positive learning culture in Belfast capability.
• Adapt leadership style to team, client, and cultural needs and escalate risks as appropriate.

• Champion operational efficiency improvements on projects and internal initiatives and consistently drive projects to completion, ensuring the work is of high quality.
• Create innovative insights which add value to both our clients and the broader society.
• Understand all our consulting service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients and build meaningful external and internal relationships across service lines.
• Contribute to the development of the wider Data & AI team by building our brand, attending relevant events, collaborating with other internal teams, and producing thought leadership.
• Actively establish, maintain, and strengthen internal and external relationships.
• Identify potential business opportunities for EY to incubate or drive new solutions and services.
• Lead Technology Consulting engagements, managing team performance and commercials including conducting performance reviews and contributing to performance feedback for all levels of staff.
• Manage engagement billings and estimates to complete.
• Understand, follow and lead staff in workplace policies and procedures.
• Lead and coach colleagues, create a positive learning culture and contribute to the continued growth of our Belfast capability.
• Adapt your leadership style to fit team, client, and cultural needs, and anticipate and identify risks and elevate issues as appropriate.
