Qualifications

• Degree or higher in biological sciences, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
• Proven experience leading analytical development within biopharma/biotech, esp. biosimilars.
• Extensive knowledge of biologics analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, CESDS, cIEF, CD.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management; mentoring capable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the analytical development team, overseeing method development, product characterization, and analytics transfer for timelines and regulatory submissions.
• Set strategic direction for analytical activities ensuring projects meet quality and regulatory standards.
• Drive a Right First Time culture, troubleshoot challenges and ensure robust compliant analytical processes.
• Serve as SME during technical reviews, stage gates, and regulatory interactions with R&D leadership.
• Mentor team members, identify emerging technologies and implement innovations to improve efficiency and data quality.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently looking for a Group Leader in Analytical Development to join a pioneering biopharma organization based in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior scientific professional to lead a dedicated team responsible for advanced analytical method development, product characterization, and support for regulatory submissions within a rapidly evolving industry.

In this pivotal role, you will steer the analytical function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data aligned with regulatory standards while fostering a culture of scientific excellence and innovation. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties as the Group Leader in Analytical Development will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

• Lead and develop the analytical development team, overseeing method development, product characterization, and analytical transfer activities to support project timelines and regulatory submissions.


• Set strategic direction for analytical activities, ensuring the execution of projects and external collaborations meet quality and regulatory standards.


• Drive a ‘Right First Time’ culture, troubleshooting technical challenges and ensuring robust, compliant analytical processes.


• Act as the SME during technical reviews, stage gate meetings, and regulatory interactions, supporting R&D leadership with strategic insights and updates.


• As the Group Leader, you will mentor team members, identify emerging technologies, and implement innovations to enhance efficiency and data quality.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Group Leader in Analytical Development we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

• A Degree or higher level in biological sciences, analytical chemistry, or a related field.


• Proven experience leading analytical development within the biopharma or biotech sectors, particularly with biosimilar products.


• Extensive knowledge of biologics analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, CESDS, cIEF, CD, and associated methodologies.


• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and build high-performing teams.
