Job summary

Away Resorts Ltd is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Central Support Finance team on a maternity cover basis in Hemel Hempstead. You will manage month-end processes, balance sheets and insightful reporting to support informed decision-making across the business.

The role requires strong numerical ability, attention to detail and a proactive mindset to drive process improvements within a hospitality group with 27 locations. We offer a competitive bonus scheme and employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or equivalent.
• Finance/accounting degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a Finance team with month-end close, journals, reconciliations and management reporting.
• Experience preparing or supporting management accounts and explaining variances.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills with accuracy.
• Excellent communication and ability to explain accounting matters to varied audiences.
• Organisational skills with ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving, process improvement and strengthening financial controls.
• Hospitality or multi-site experience would be beneficial.
• Experience with finance systems and data analysis would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and payroll-related entries.
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and ensure deadlines are met.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Provide commentary and analysis to explain movements in P&L and balance sheet.
• Ensure entries post to correct cost centres and nominal codes.
• Collaborate with FP&A and operational teams to understand cost drivers.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc financial analyses.
• Help improve finance processes, controls and reporting routines.
