About The Role

We have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join the fast-paced finance team. The successful candidate will contribute to the company’s financial performance through accurate recording of general ledger transactions.

About You

Main Duties

1. Assist with transactional finance duties, including monthly reconciliation and handling financial queries.
2. Support the preparation of management accounts.
3. Process accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
4. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations.
5. Support fixed asset management.
6. Contribute to the production of the monthly management accounts pack.
7. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance and accuracy in all financial reporting.
8. Ensure monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed on time, with investigating and resolving reconciling items.
9. Maintain appropriate evidence to support period-end prepayments, accruals, and controls.
10. Ensure compliance with internal control requirements.
11. Develop effective working relationships with budget holders.
12. Proactively support the Group Financial Controller and Finance Manager in reviewing current processes, focusing on process location and activity timing to maximize efficiency and manage resource constraints at month-end.

Skills and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar accounting role is essential.
• Knowledge of management accounts and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly.
• Part-qualified or finalist status in accounting.
• Experience with cost centre accounting in a multi-location business.
