Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Management Accountant to join our Coop team in Wellingborough. You will provide clear financial reporting, performance insights and accurate management accounts to support day-to-day decision making, while collaborating with operational leaders.

Job description

Are you qualified or studying towards a CIMA or ACCA qualification and looking to develop your finance career within a fast-paced logistics environment? Do you enjoy turning financial data into meaningful insights that help operational teams make better business decisions? Are you highly organised, detail focused and able to deliver accurate reporting to tight deadlines?

Here at GXO, we are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Coop team in Wellingborough. Working closely with operational leaders, you'll help provide clear financial reporting, meaningful performance insights and accurate management accounts that support day-to-day decision making. You will ensure the commercial, profit, retention and contractual objectives are met and exceeded and importantly help drive high standards. A customer facing role providing insight to enhance customer support and understanding through the presentation and interpretation of information produced to identify opportunities and challenge the operations.

This is a full time, permanent position, working Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00, we have some flexibility on start and end times, and we ask for a bit of flexibility too, this is logistics after all!

What you'll do on a typical day:

• Prepare weekly cost reports, monthly management accounts and KPI reporting to support business performance


• Complete month-end activities, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations in line with internal financial controls and audit requirements


• Analyse financial results and provide commentary to help operational teams understand performance


• Build strong relationships with operational managers and support them with financial insight and reporting


• Provide ad-hoc analysis and support to the Finance Business Partner and wider finance team


• Responsibility for both the P&L and balance sheet, ensuring adherence to policy and procedure


• Prepare the annual budgets and customer forecasts to strict timelines and standards


• Validate potential CI savings and continually track performance against forecasts


• Develop strong relationships with the customer - both operationally and within the finance function

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• A Fully or Part qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA)


• Strong excel skills, with the ability to analyse data and produce financial reports


• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines


• A positive, can-do approach with strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships across the operation


• Transport/Logistics Industry experience would be advantageous but not essential
