Job summary

GXO Logistics, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to support the Finance Team at our Trentham site. This role offers a fast-paced environment with responsibility for management accounts and financial controls to help the business run smoothly.

The ideal candidate will have a proactive mindset, strong MS Excel skills, and experience in finance within logistics. Working Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm, you will contribute to budgeting, forecasting and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in finance/accounting within logistics/operational environments.
• Proficient in MS Excel and financial reporting.
• Ability to analyse variances and explain forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Produce weekly flash accounts for the site.
• Manage period ends including prepayments and accrual journals for Wincanton/GXO and customer accounts.
• Explain variances to forecast with P&L analysis insights.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations with supporting evidence for accruals and deferrals, including payroll reconciliations.
• Assist in annual budget and forecasts and model cost of resources.
• Provide cover for the site Finance Manager and ensure timely reporting to Screwfix and GXO.

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Finance Manager to support our Finance Team at our site in Trentham. This is a chance to be part of a fast paced and challenging area of work supporting the operational and financial running of the business, ensuring management accounts processes are adhered to.

This is a full time, permanent position, predominately working Monday - Friday, covering the hours of 8am to 4pm. However, we do ask for some flexibility, this is logistics after all.

You'll be paid a salary between £30,000 and £35,000 depending on experienceand receive 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. What you'll do on a typical day:

• Produce weekly flash accounts for the site
• Responsible for both Wincanton/ GXO and Customer period ends which involves prepayment and accrual journals
• Be a subject matter expert for your area understanding and explaining variances to forecast, along with P&L analysis offering insight on underlying trends
• Balance Sheet reconciliation with supporting evidence for any accruals, provisions or deferrals including payroll reconciliations and produce weekly flash accounts for site
• Assisting in the production of annual budget and forecasts, modelling of the costs of resources and explanation of variances to previous forecasts or actuals
• Providing cover for the site Finance Manager, assisting them in controlling all aspects of the Finance function ensuring accurate and timely reporting both to Screwfix and Wincanton/ GXO

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• The successful candidate will have positive personality, a can-do attitude and a questioning mindset, with the confidence to challenge operational costs and investigate variances to reach the right outcome
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work accurately under pressure, plus flexible to the needs of the business during key reporting periods
• Ability to work under his/her own initiative as well as part of the team
• Demonstrate and possess an excellent & diverse range of PC skills, in particular MS excel
• Experience within a logistics or operational business environment currently working in finance/ accounting and holding, as minimum, an AAT qualification
