The Interim Management Accountant role at Pentest People (part of the Cyber Division within GRC) offers a unique opportunity to join a growing finance team at a critical point.

Recently acquired by GRC, Pentest People is on an accelerated growth path, and this role is central to shaping the financial processes and reporting standards that will support that journey. Reporting directly to the Cyber Divisional Finance Director, the Interim Management Accountant will play an integral role in providing financial insights, budget analysis, and management reporting to support strategic decision-making across the Cyber Division.

As a key member of the Divisional Finance team, the Interim Management Accountant will play a pivotal role in supporting both Pentest People and its sister company, Bulletproof, recently acquired under the Cyber Division’s GRC strategy. This role demands strong collaboration and cross-functional engagement to ensure finance operations are effectively aligned with the strategic goals of both businesses.

The successful candidate will take a hands-on approach, driving operational efficiencies, managing core reporting processes, and partnering closely with the Finance Director. They will also contribute to the division’s financial planning and analysis, helping to shape and support a cohesive financial strategy across the Cyber Division.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the General Ledger and ensure timely reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, and control accounts.
• Support fixed asset ledger management and associated entries.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to provide insight to stakeholders.
• Prepare and review management reports and group reporting packs.
• Produce monthly overhead analysis and support business partnering with key departments.
• Review monthly payroll reports and liaise with external providers.
• Support statutory audits and ensure compliance with tax and regulatory submissions (e.g. VAT, P11D).

Candidate Expectations

• Degree educated and a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or nearing qualification with strong experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within growing or transitioning businesses.
• Confident working within a group structure and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Team player with proven relationship-building abilities.
• Advanced Excel skills; Xero experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable influencing and partnering with non-Finance teams.
