Job summary

Ambition is partnering with a growing professional practice to recruit an Associate Director for Audit, Accounts & Tax. You will lead a portfolio across UK and international clients, overseeing management accounts, VAT, and balance sheet reconciliations, while developing client relationships and guiding junior staff.

You'll work across multiple accounting platforms, advise on software integrations, and benefit from a structured path to more senior roles as the practice expands.

Qualifications

• A solid, working understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
• Hands-on experience in preparing VAT returns.
• Experience in completing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ability to manage multiple clients or workstreams simultaneously.

Responsibilities

Associate Director - Audit, Accounts & Tax

They take their work seriously without taking themselves too seriously, and they're now looking for a Management Accountant to join a collaborative team of accountants and software specialists. You'll manage your own portfolio of UK and international clients, supported by comprehensive training and a clear path for progression.

What You'll Be Doing

• Preparing management accounts for a varied portfolio of UK and international clients
• Taking ownership of your own client relationships and managing day-to-day account responsibilities
• Preparing VAT returns accurately and to deadline
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Working across a range of accounting platforms and software systems
• Supporting clients with accounting software queries and, where relevant, system integrations or migrations

What We're Looking For

• A solid, working understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
• Hands-on experience in preparing VAT returns
• Practical experience using one or more of the following: Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or SAP
• Experience in completing balance sheet reconciliations
• The ability to manage multiple clients or workstreams simultaneously

Nice to Have

• Experience with software integrations and migrations
• Ability to provide software advice to clients
• Exposure to e-commerce businesses or online marketplace environments
