Job summary

Cobalt Recruitment is seeking a qualified Management Accountant to join a major UK construction project based in Northamptonshire. The role offers hybrid/flexible working and exposure to senior stakeholders across the business.

You will deliver monthly management accounts, cashflow analysis and budgets, with governance across VAT, costs and reporting. This position provides development within a wider finance function and opportunities to influence commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• A recognised professional accounting qualification.
• Working knowledge of management accounting, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing management information and analysing financial performance.
• Understanding of cash flow management, cost control and balance sheet reporting.
• Ability to communicate financial information to operational and commercial stakeholders.
• Confidence with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to manage reporting deadlines and collaborate across teams.
• Willingness to travel to business and project locations when required.
• Experience in construction or project-based environments is beneficial.

The role and responsibilities

Reporting to a Finance Business Partner, the Management Accountant will support the financial management of a major construction project, working alongside senior project and commercial stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting commentary.

Skills and requirements

We're looking for a qualified Management Accountant who combines technical accounting knowledge with an interest in commercial finance.

The successful candidate will bring:

• A recognised professional accounting qualification.

• Working knowledge of management accounting, budgeting and financial reporting.

• Experience preparing management information and analysing financial performance.

• An understanding of cash flow management, cost control and balance sheet reporting.

• The ability to communicate financial information to operational and commercial stakeholders.

• Confidence working with financial systems and reporting tools.

• The ability to manage reporting deadlines and work collaboratively across teams.

• Flexibility to travel to business and project locations when required.

Experience within construction or another project-based environment would be beneficial, alongside working knowledge of Oracle or Power BI, although these are not essential.
