Job summary

Handpicked Recruitment is seeking a Management Accountant for a leading professional services group in London. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and management information for senior stakeholders.

You will prepare monthly accounts, assist with VAT, payroll-related accounting, reconciliations, and contribute to improving reporting tools and controls in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent is advantageous.
• Experience in a Management Accountant/Assistant Management Accountant role.
• Strong month-end and management accounting experience.
• Experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Good understanding of cash flow and financial reporting.
• Experience with VAT and transactional finance would be beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
• Support the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
• Prepare monthly variance analysis and commentary on financial performance
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting across the group
• Monitor cash flow and support short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts
• Prepare and review management information for senior stakeholders
• Assist with VAT returns preparation and submission
• Assist with payroll-related accounting and reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure controls are followed
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as required
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to understand financial performance and resolve queries
• Assist with year-end reporting and information for external auditors/advisers
• Support Head of Finance with ad hoc financial analysis and wider projects
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls and processes
• Support development of improved financial systems and reporting tools

Our client, a leading professional services group operating across a diverse range of sectors, is looking for a Management Accountant to join their London finance team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this is a broad and hands-on role offering exposure across management accounting, month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting
• Support the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare monthly variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes across the group
• Monitor cash flow and support the preparation of short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts
• Prepare and review management information for senior stakeholders
• Support the preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Assist with payroll-related accounting and reconciliations
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure appropriate controls are followed
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes where required

Role Requirements

• Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent would be advantageous
• Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, or similar accounting role
• Strong month-end and management accounting experience
• Experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Good understanding of cash flow and financial reporting
• Experience with VAT and transactional finance would be beneficial
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
• Proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Comfortable working within a fast-paced, commercial environment
