Job description

RMS is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Management Accountant to join our client's exceptional fabrication company based in Darlington, working part-time 24 hours per week. Salary will be pro-rata to the hours worked.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing financial insights and supporting business decision-making by preparing accurate financial reports, budgets, and forecasts. Responsibilities include analyzing financial performance, identifying trends, and offering strategic recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and handle the input and processing of financial data and reports for the company's computerized financial systems.
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as nominal ledger accounts, sales and purchase ledger transactions, in line with accounting principles.
• Assist in preparing monthly Management Accounts (both individual and group consolidated).
• Prepare and review monthly Contract Cost statements for live projects.
• Analyze overhead data to identify trends and over/underspends against budgets.
• Manage multi-currency accounting, including recording, reporting, and analyzing financial statements in foreign currencies for consolidation into group accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and conduct monthly variance reviews of revenue, expenses, payroll, invoices, and other accounting documents.
• Prepare and analyze monthly payment applications and invoicing related to reimbursable contracts.
• Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet items, explaining the rationale behind each balance.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
• Coordinate with external auditors during audits.
• Engage with key clients regarding audits and payment/invoicing applications.
• Establish, maintain, and implement accounting procedures and controls.
• Monitor and review accounting reports for accuracy and completeness.

Requirements:

• Qualified Accountant
• Knowledge of multi-currency, inter-company, and group consolidated accounting
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and attention to detail, with analytical skills to interpret data.
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive approach to transaction queries.
• Capability to manage all aspects of month-end close and reporting.
• Positive, approachable demeanor with excellent communication skills.
