Job summary

Vibe Recruit are partnered with a client seeking a commercially focused Management Accountant to join the finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role combines traditional management accounting with process improvements and meaningful financial insight.

You will prepare monthly management accounts, provide financial insight to non-finance colleagues, and lead improvements in reporting, forecasting and efficiency while working closely with operational teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified accounting qualification, or part-qualified status.
• Proven experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Strong analytical skills with data interpretation capability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, variance analysis and commentary.
• Provide financial insight to non-finance colleagues to support decision-making.
• Lead finance improvement initiatives focusing on data quality, reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
• Review processes to streamline, automate and improve efficiency.
• Develop and maintain management information on costs, margins, stock, labour, productivity and performance.
• Support budgets and forecasts reflecting activity, costs and future requirements.
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends and advise on continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with operational teams to align reporting with actual performance.

Management Accountant

Vibe Recruit are working in partnership with our client to recruit an experienced Management Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-month fixed term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused finance professional to play a key role in supporting business performance through accurate reporting, process improvements and meaningful financial insight.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated finance support, working closely with operational teams to improve financial visibility, strengthen controls and support informed decision-making. This role combines traditional management accounting responsibilities with a strong focus on improving processes, reporting, forecasting and efficiency.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys looking beyond the numbers, understanding the wider business and making a real impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, variance analysis and commentary.


• Provide clear financial insight and support to non-finance colleagues, helping them understand performance and make informed decisions.


• Lead finance improvement initiatives, focusing on improving data quality, reporting, forecasting and budgeting processes.


• Review existing processes and identify opportunities to streamline, automate and improve efficiency.


• Develop and maintain effective management information covering areas such as costs, margins, stock, labour, productivity, waste and operational performance.


• Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring they reflect business activity, costs and future requirements.


• Analyse financial performance, identify trends and provide recommendations to support continuous improvement.


• Work closely with operational teams to understand business drivers and ensure reporting reflects actual performance.


• Strengthen financial controls across purchasing, stock, costing, approvals and reporting processes.


• Provide professional challenge and practical solutions to support business objectives.


• Work collaboratively with wider finance teams to ensure accuracy, consistency and delivery of reporting requirements.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant who combines strong technical accounting skills with a proactive and commercial approach.

You will ideally have:

• A recognised accounting qualification, part-qualified status or equivalent relevant experience.


• Strong experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.


• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide meaningful insight.


• The confidence to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.


• Experience improving processes, reducing manual tasks and enhancing financial reporting.


• A hands-on approach with the ability to understand operational environments and business performance.


• Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems and operational data.


• Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the business.

Desirable Experience:

• Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, construction or operational environment.


• Experience developing reporting around costing, margins, stock, labour, productivity or waste.


• Experience supporting finance improvement projects or implementing new processes.


• Experience using Open Accounts or similar finance systems.
