Job summary

Green Cat Renewables is seeking a Management Accountant to oversee accounting operations across two group businesses, primarily based in the Biggar office with regular time in Glasgow. You will lead month-end, prepare management accounts, support board and cash-flow reporting, and manage intercompany reconciliations.

The role requires strong analytical and organisational skills, with hands-on ownership of processes and a focus on accurate, timely outputs.

Green Cat Renewables (GCR) is a dynamic, innovative company that provides the complete range of technical services required to deliver renewable energy projects. The team of over 100 Engineers and Consultants deliver projects on behalf of Clients from four offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livingston, and Biggar. GCR sits at the centre of an international group working closely alongside our sister consultancy businesses: Green Cat Renewables Canada, based in Calgary, Canada and Green Cat Renewables Europe, based in Amersfoort, Netherlands; as well as working alongside our UK based development companies Green Cat Hydrogen, Green Cat Renewable Developments and Green Cat Contracting.

A vacancy has arisen for a Management Accountant to assist in overseeing the accounting operations within the Finance & Admin teams of two Group businesses. This role will primarily be based in our Biggar office but will require regular time at our Glasgow office.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will act as the first point of review for the finance team of Green Cat Renewables and will initially require a hands-on approach to the financial processing and reporting for Green Cat Contracting. The successful candidate will take ownership of routine financial reporting and controls, resolving day-to-day issues and escalating material matters clearly and promptly.

Working within the team, your roles and responsibilities will include:

• Lead the month-end process across GCR and GCC, ensuring reporting is accurate and delivered on time.
• Oversee GCR’s monthly management accounts and review and analyse reporting inputs for both businesses.
• Support quarterly board reporting and oversee regular cash-flow reporting across both businesses.
• Ensure intercompany transactions are recorded and reconciled correctly.
• Review the GCR finance teams’ work, provide constructive feedback and ensure routine queries are resolved promptly.
• Oversee weekly and monthly payroll processes and support VAT and CIS returns.
• Support year-end accounts, audit requirements and responses to auditor queries.
• Work with the Group Financial Controller to implement consistent systems, controls and processes across all Group companies.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Work with the Group Financial Controller to implement consistent systems, controls and processes across all Group companies.
• Strong experience in preparing and reviewing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• A confident approach to taking ownership, reviewing others’ work and resolving issues independently.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills, with a consistent focus on accurate, complete and reliable outputs.
• The ability to manage competing deadlines across more than one business while remaining practical and hands-on.
• Strong spreadsheet skills and the ability to communicate financial information clearly and build effective working relationships.
• Experience of payroll or CIS, and knowledge of AccountsIQ, QuickBooks or Sage, would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Right to work in the UK on a full-time basis.
