Job summary

Search Consultancy Ltd in Coatbridge seeks an experienced Accounts Manager for a permanent hybrid role. You will oversee payroll, management accounts and cash flow, across multiple group entities, with two direct reports.

The position offers a broad remit in a growing business, with 39 hours per week, early finish on Fridays, 2 days from home, and a salary band of £45,000–£55,000 per year along with 25 days leave and 8 bank holidays.

Are you an experienced Accounts Manager looking for a broad, hands on finance role where you can make a genuine impact within a growing business?

I am recruiting on behalf of an established and expanding organisation based in Coatbridge that is looking to appoint an experienced Accounts Manager as part of its succession planning and continued growth.

This is an important senior appointment within the finance team, offering significant responsibility across management accounts, complex payroll, cash flow, project accounting and transactional finance. You will oversee two members of the team and become a key point of contact for more complex finance and payroll queries.

With an experienced team member due to retire next year, the business is recruiting well in advance to ensure a comprehensive handover. For the right person, there is excellent scope to establish themselves as a trusted senior member of the finance function.

The Role

Reporting into the senior finance function, you will take ownership of a varied workload across several group companies, while overseeing and supporting an Accounts Assistant and Payroll team member.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Overseeing the payroll function and resolving complex payroll, tax, pension, CIS and timesheet queries
• Providing technical guidance and support to the wider finance and payroll team
• Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
• Supporting the preparation of management accounts and month end reporting
• Completing balance sheet, bank and project reconciliations
• Managing WIP and associated accruals
• Preparing and maintaining cash flow forecasts and weekly cash requirements
• Supporting forecasting and providing accurate figures to the wider business
• Reviewing project costings and ensuring costs are accurately recorded
• Managing VAT requirements and supporting CIS compliance
• Managing payment plans and supporting credit control
• Overseeing supplier and customer account requirements
• Supporting foreign exchange requirements across the group
• Working closely with operational and labour supply teams to review labour rates, timesheets and associated costs
• Supporting the preparation for the company's upcoming financial audit
• Investigating and resolving complex finance queries across multiple group entities
• Overseeing and delegating work across two direct reports

About You

This role would suit an experienced senior finance professional who enjoys having a broad remit and is equally comfortable getting involved in management accounts, payroll and day to day financial operations.

You will ideally have:

• Strong end to end payroll knowledge with experience resolving complex queries
• Good knowledge of payroll tax, pensions and CIS
• Management accounts and month end experience
• Strong knowledge of journals, accruals and prepayments
• Experience completing balance sheet and bank reconciliations
• Cash flow forecasting and payment planning experience
• Good VAT and bookkeeping knowledge
• Exposure to project accounting, project reconciliations or WIP
• Experience working across multiple companies or entities
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies through to resolution
• Confidence communicating with both finance and operational teams
• Previous experience within construction, infrastructure, recruitment, labour supply or a similar project based environment would be advantageous
