Job summary

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Milton Keynes is recruiting a HCPC-registered Mammographer on a fixed-term contract (23 hours per week) to join the Breast Imaging team. The post supports the National Breast Screening and symptomatic imaging services across the Breast Care Unit and Mobile Screening Unit, with flex across sites.

  • Mentor junior staff and supervise as required.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care and documentation.

Mammographer Fixed Term Contract

Department Breast Screening

Band 6 £39,959 - £48,117 per annum, pro rata

Hours 23 hrs per week (Monday, Thursday and Friday - maternity cover until 26 March 2027), all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

It is an exciting time for you to join the breast imaging team following the re-design of the unit to modernise the space and install state-of-the-art technology into all rooms, this includes tomosynthesis, CESM and CESM biopsy along with a newly designed staff hub.

The breast imaging department is part of the diagnostic Imaging team at MKUH and provides the National Breast Screening (NHSBSP) and symptomatic imaging service for the population of Milton Keynes.

This is delivered from both the static breast unit and mobile screening unit locations so the ability to work flexibly across different sites is essential.

We are looking for a dedicated HCPC Radiographer with a passion for breast imaging to join our friendly team, who holds a UK regulated level 7 postgraduate qualification in Mammography or has a UK ENIC statement of compatibility.

As part of the Allied Health Professional team (AHP) you will collaborate, contribute and communicate with your AHP colleagues as you support each patient through your individual patient journey (see link).

Due to the nature of the role and to encourage women of all cultures and religions in our community to access breast screening all applicants must be female. This is deemed to be an occupational requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, paragraph 1 and the Employment Statutory Code of Practices, Chapter 13, paragraphs 13.5-13.

To work as part of the Breast Care Unit multidisciplinary team providing a breast screening and symptomatic service for the population of Milton Keynes. This will include duties both on the Mobile Screening Unit and the Breast Care Unit in Milton Keynes Hospital, and will also include use of dedicated computer systems.

This role involves working alongside assistant practitioners, supervising, and mentoring as required.

To perform high quality diagnostic breast imaging to demonstrate or exclude breast cancer on all women attending the symptomatic or breast screening services, whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care.
