Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Male SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil in the B24 area. The role requires building a positive relationship, encouraging engagement and supporting social, emotional and academic development.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEN and 1:1 pupil support, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team. DBS and safeguarding checks apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day.
  • Support the pupil to access learning and participate in classroom activities.
  • Build a strong professional relationship with the pupil.
  • Encourage engagement, confidence and independence.
  • Support the pupil's social, emotional and academic development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies when challenges arise.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
  • Follow individual support plans and strategies to meet the pupil's needs.
  • Monitor and communicate progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to support the pupil both inside and outside the classroom.

Job description

Male SEN Teaching Assistant

Smile Education are currently recruiting for an experienced, proactive and hardworking Male SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support within a school in the B24 area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting young people. The successful candidate will need to be confident working on a 1:1 basis and able to build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.

The role
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day.
  • Support the pupil to access learning and participate in classroom activities.
  • Build a strong and positive professional relationship with the pupil.
  • Encourage engagement, confidence and independence.
  • Support the pupil with their social, emotional and academic development.
  • Promote positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies when challenges arise.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
