CJP Outreach is recruiting a Male Support Worker Nights to join a dedicated team providing 24/7 support in a home setting with a 2:1 staffing ratio. You will work rotating 12-hour waking night shifts, staying awake to ensure safety, comfort and wellbeing for a gentleman in his own home.

We seek someone proactive, upbeat and resilient, with experience in male support roles or dealing with cerebral palsy, autism, and complex behavioural needs.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Male Support Worker Nights or supporting people with cerebral palsy, autism, complex behavioural needs or trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

  • Providing person-centred support that promotes independence, choice and dignity.
  • Working with the person to identify potential triggers that may lead to mental health decline or behaviours of concern.
  • Implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies to improve quality of life.
  • Collaborating with the person to create and implement tailored support plans.
  • Assisting with essential life skills, including cooking, personal hygiene, budgeting and household management.
  • Supporting medication, medical appointments and overall health and wellbeing.
  • Maintaining accurate care records, documenting progress, incidents and outcomes.
  • Working closely with colleagues, family members, external professionals and other agencies to ensure holistic care.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Male Support Worker Nights to join a dedicated team of support workers. This is a Male Support Worker Nights position providing support on a 24/7 basis with a 2:1 staffing ratio. You will work rotational 12-hour waking night shifts.

As a Male Support Worker Nights , you will remain awake throughout your night shift, providing consistent 2:1 support, promoting the gentleman's safety, comfort, dignity and wellbeing and responding to his needs as they arise.

This Male Support Worker Nights role is an important part of the 24/7 support package and requires someone who is reliable, attentive and able to provide consistent support throughout the night.

About the Role

As a Male Support Worker Nights you will play a pivotal role in providing person-centred support for a gentleman in his 30s who is a wheelchair user and receives 2:1 support in his own home.

K is a night owl. We are working hard to support him with structure and routine at night. Once you are an accepted part of his team, he will give you a nickname. K will interact some of the night but will also like to have a bit of space for part of the night. He will need encouragement to engage in personal care, and to follow his sleep hygiene routine

He loves computer games, going to the gym and swimming. He also enjoys the cinema, bowling, visiting the pub, playing guitar and listening to music.

We are looking for a Male Support Worker Nights who is proactive, fun, upbeat and naturally bubbly. You will also need to be calm, relaxed and resilient, and fond of animals, as the gentleman has a pet cat.

You will join a dynamic and resilient team that values diversity, promotes inclusion and fosters a supportive environment.

You will preferably have experience working as a Male Support Worker Nights or supporting people with:

  • Cerebral palsy
  • Autism
  • Complex behavioural needs
  • Trauma-informed care

Ideally, your experience will be in community-based settings, such as supported living or community care. Previous experience as a Support Worker and knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) would be an advantage.
