Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Male SEMH Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Hounslow. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, building strong relationships and supporting emotional regulation.

The role requires a patient, calm approach to behaviour management and the ability to act as a positive male role model. This is a full-time, term-time only position with opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

  • Ability to establish boundaries while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Background in youth work, sports, mentoring, education, care, support work, psychology or similar would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and other professionals to support individual pupils.
  • Help create a calm, structured and supportive environment where students feel safe and able to succeed.

Male SEMH Teaching Assistant - Specialist School - Hounslow

Are you a resilient, confident and motivated Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with young people and making a real difference?

We are currently recruiting for a Male SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Hounslow, supporting secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who can build strong relationships with young people, confidently manage challenging behaviour and act as a positive male role model within the school environment.

You may have a background in education, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, care, support work, residential settings or the wider education sector. Most importantly, you will be someone who is patient, consistent and able to remain calm when faced with challenging situations.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to secondary-aged pupils.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • Experience working with children or young people.

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs is highly desirable.

  • A confident and calm approach to behaviour management.

  • The resilience to work in a demanding but highly rewarding environment.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A patient, consistent and empathetic approach.

  • The ability to establish boundaries while maintaining positive relationships.

  • A background in youth work, sports, mentoring, education, care, support work, psychology or similar would be beneficial.

You don't necessarily need previous experience as a Teaching Assistant. If you have strong experience working with young people and feel you could positively influence students who need additional support, we would be keen to hear from you.
