Job summary

Jewish Care is seeking an Activities Programme Assistant at the Dennis Centre in Ilford to deliver engaging activities for older people, including those living with dementia. The role is 30 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, with an emphasis on friendly, welcoming, and person-centred care.

You will work with the Senior Programme Assistant and Centre Manager to plan and deliver a varied programme, support volunteers, and help ensure spaces are safe and welcoming.

Qualifications

• Experience socialising with or supporting older people or those living with dementia.
• Warm, friendly, approachable and able to build relationships.
• Customer-focused with active listening.
• Independent and can use initiative.
• Good teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging activities and programmes for older people.
• Support dementia-friendly activities and wellbeing sessions.
• Encourage participation and adapt activities for varying abilities.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with members and families.
• Set up and clear down activities; ensure spaces are safe and welcoming.
• Support volunteers and other staff; coordinate across teams.
• Maintain records and data entry in Jewish Care systems.
• Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns; meet deadlines.
