Job summary

Allied Mills in Manchester invites a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join the team at Trafford Park. You will perform planned, predictive and reactive maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards.

They will carry out repairs quickly, contribute to continuous improvement, and work with the Maximo system for CMMS maintenance tasks with a call-out rota. Relevant FMCG experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a maintenance engineer in an operational environment (FMCG/food).
• Experience with mechanical and electrical industrial systems.
• Experience replacing drive couplings, chains, belts and conveyors.
• Replacement and care of rolling element bearings.
• Knowledge of compressed air and pneumatic control systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate to site procedures within quality, environmental and safety systems.
• Contribute to continual plant/process improvements across departments/sites.
• Ensure engineering safety on site and monitor external contractors.
• Carry out daily monitoring inspections and weekly self-audits.
• Manage small to medium projects and site process improvements.
• Use the Maximo system to record labour/materials and perform PMs/PdMs.
• Carry out repairs to plant equipment quickly and safely.
• Participate in the maintenance call-out rota.
• Analyse defects and apply RCA where applicable.

Overview Of Role

Location: Trafford Park, Manchester

Hours: Monday to Friday 7am - 3:30pm / 2pm - 12am (call out rota every 1 in 5 weeks)

We have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join an experienced team, providing a first-class service at our flour mill. In this role, the successful candidate will carry out planned, predictive and reactive maintenance tasks in line with safety and quality standards. They will safely carry out all repairs to plant equipment and services as quickly and efficiently as possible and contribute to the continual improvement of the plant. .

Key Accountabilities

• To operate to procedures as defined within site quality, environmental and health and safety systems and standards.
• Contributes to continual improvement of the plant, processes and working environment through generating and implementing improvements and working collaboratively across departments/sites.
• Responsible for engineering safety on site
• To assist with monitoring external contractors on site, ensuring familiarisation with site rules.
• Carries out daily monitoring inspections and self-audits in each area of the plant on a weekly rota
• Responsible for small to medium projects and site process improvements
• Uses the Maximo system, ensuring labour and material expended are recorded and PPM/PdM are carried out for all areas of the site.
• Safely carries out all repairs to plant equipment and services as quickly and efficiently as possible.
• Participates in the call out program for maintenance faults.
• Analyses and rectifies plant/process defects in a timely manner using RCA where applicable.

The Right Person

• A minimum of 5 years experience as a maintenance engineer in an operational environment, preferably FMCG, food or drink.
• Completion of a recognised Engineering apprenticeship/traineeship, with a minimum of City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ qualification or equivalent..
• Experience of mechanical and electrical industrial systems
• Experience/knowledge of replacing mechanical drive couplings, chains, belts, conveyors
• Replacement and care of rolling element bearings.
• Knowledge on compressed air and pneumatic control systems and components
