Severn Trent has a great opportunity within our Water Treatment team in the Leicestershire area to join as our new Instrumentation Maintenance Technician.
This is a regional field-based role, where you’ll start work from home and be provided with a company vehicle, mobile, safety gear, and tools. Hours: Mon–Thu 7:30–3:30, Fri 7:30–3:00 (flexibility on start and end times can be offered), plus standby will be required.
Are you an Engineer or Technician looking for specialist training, career progression, and premium overtime rates? No water industry experience? No problem.
Our treatment works operate as complex process plants, just like those in manufacturing, energy, or other industrial sectors. If you’ve worked with process control systems and have a working knowledge of industrial mechanical installation requirements and standards, your skills will transfer seamlessly.
You’ll also get specialist training, work with advanced mechanical systems, and help prevent issues before they happen - keeping communities and rivers safe.
This isn’t just a job - it’s a place to grow and build a career while making a real difference to the environment. You’ll also be part of a close-knit local team - a work family - where you can build friendships, enjoy a laugh, and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

It's not just a job; it's a career. We offer benefits that reward great work and award‑winning training to help you reach your potential. Plus, you'll contribute to the environment and community too.
This role has a clear, structured development path from Foundation to Skilled and Expert. Salary starts at £41,762.08, rising to £45,165.69 with qualifications and experience, supported through formal training and assessment.
Paid training and development form a core part of this role, with a requirement to work toward gaining a recognised second skill. While qualifications or experience are highly advantageous for a second skill, they are not essential, as full upskilling, formal training, and structured competency development will be provided.
We are considering all applicants that may already be dual skilled with the relevant qualifications with a starting salary of £45,171.90.
Successful applicants will be supported through technical training, on‑the‑job development, and assessment to achieve the required competency and progress within the role.
If you’re a qualified technician or engineer and want a job with a clear environmental purpose, we’d love to hear from you. Before you apply, have an updated CV ready and five minutes to spare.
