Who We Are Looking For
As a Maintenance Technician, you perform a variety of duties related to the upkeep and maintenance of the hotel’s operation on both the interior and exterior. Your knowledge and experience of hotel or multi-unit properties will showcase your quality of work and enhance The Read House guest experience. You will be able to work efficiently and productively with little supervision.
Position will train on 1st shift (8a-4p) for 30-60 days and move to 2nd shift (3p-11p) after training.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Resolve maintenance issues, work orders, and maintenance concerns efficiently
- Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in electrical/mechanical/plumbing systems (e.g. HVAC, Boilers, Fire Systems, Refrigeration Systems, Lighting, Appliances and other hotel equipment)
- Inspect, repair, replace, and install electrical items, such as lights, light fixtures, light bulbs, switches, outlets, circuit breaker panels, etc.
- Inspect, repair, replace, and install plumbing items, such as shower/tub drains, sink faucets, toilets, caulking, grout, etc.
- Inspect, repair, replace, and install furnishings and appliances, such as mirrors, window fixtures, wall coverings, locks, televisions, remote controls, clocks, etc.
- Inspect, repair, replace, and install ceiling to floor items, such as drywall, paint, wallpaper, crown/shoe molding, carpet, and tile
- Check and maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
- Perform pool testing of chemicals, record chemical levels, and add chemicals as needed
- Conduct ongoing property preventative maintenance program in guest rooms and public spaces, working with Housekeeping to ensure all equipment within the guest rooms is functioning properly
- Perform general property upkeep procedures (i.e. landscaping, caulking, painting, etc.)
- Inspecting the property to identify potential and current needs
- Adhere to all rules, policies, and practices regarding health and safety
- Perform all duties using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Assist with safety and security of the property
- Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance with the ability to work a flexible schedule which may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays when business requires
Job Requirements
Education/ Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- One to three years of related general maintenance experience required; including the following areas: painting, plumbing, drywall, minor electrical
Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems
- General knowledge of maintenance processes and methods
- Excellent communication skills with guests, team members, and management
- Ability to work efficiently with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and as a team and remain motivated
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 75 pounds with or without assistance
- Position self in order to obtain necessary supplies and safely perform maintenance repair duties
- Traverse work areas including the complex, guest rooms, and public areas
- Ascend and descend stairs with varying levels of height
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly for various tasks and durations of time as required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time, sometimes more than 8 hours
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with changing variables
- Ability to perform well under pressure to meet the needs of guests, team members and/ or management
Work Environment
- The work environment includes moderate guest contact; may involve varying conditions and circumstances with guests, staff, visitors, etc.
- The noise level in the work environment varies from low to moderate to loud
- This position frequently works near moving mechanical parts
- This position requires the ability to work in temperatures of varying degrees
- This position occasionally works outside in various weather conditions
