The Maintenance Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Technician role involves assembly, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and fault diagnosis, repair and disassembly of a wide range of electrical plant and associated components. Qualifications & Skills
- Time‑Served Apprenticeship with an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician
- Credentials: HNC/HND, ONC, or similar technical certificates in Electrical Engineering
- Inspection & Testing: City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent)
- Com Ex (desirable)
- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical blueprints and wiring diagrams
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, test and diagnose faults and disassemble electrical plant and associated components to required standards while adhering to health, safety, environmental regulations and safe working practices.
- Understand relevant legislative, regulatory and local requirements, reporting lines and procedures.
- Prepare and reinstate work area, materials and equipment and consider consequences of incorrect actions.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards and equipment manuals; follow work instructions and relevant plans and schedules; update 'as built' drawings as required.
- Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime.
- Suggest and develop modification requests to improve plant/equipment efficiency and safety of operations.
- Select appropriate tools and equipment, comply with training, methods, techniques, quality control and safety procedures.
- Ensure care and security of tools and equipment used.
- Follow mandatory Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
- Identify types of defects and faults, determine action to take.
- Handle digital information, technology and equipment to support work tasks and communicate information.
- Undertake continuous training and development.
