The Role

To maintain a range of buildings services, plant, and equipment, which can sometimes be complex and non-routine, by diagnosing and repairing faults as they occur.

Maintain NHSL’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, associated building services plant, and building fabric assets to a high standard.

This will include planning and prioritising workload and material management requirements, along with documentation, completion, and sign-off.

What we'll need you to bring
  • Completion of apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Bias plus an HNC or equivalent, with additional non-core training qualification at SVQ level or equivalent.
In Addition
  • Experience working in an estates service environment.
  • Knowledge of current statutory legislative requirements.
  • Experience in inspecting and planning work related to PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant in-house training, including statutory, Archibus, Learnpro, and Toolbox Talks.
  • Additional training in portable appliance testing, washer disinfectors, sterilizers, asbestos, legionella, tube systems, PLC controllers, steam/boilers, etc., to achieve competency or accreditation.
  • Accredited boiler/steam course for meeting HSE and insurance requirements.
  • Specific training in Medical Gas systems and healthcare ventilation for competent person status.
  • Manufacturer-specific courses for specialized equipment, e.g., laundry equipment.
  • Development of skills in other areas like complex air conditioning systems through ongoing training.

Please note: a full UK/EU/EEA driving license is required for all vacancies where applicable.

Contract type

Permanent, Full-time, 37 hours

Location and Working Pattern

This role is based in the PSSD Maintenance department within West of Scotland Laundry.

The working pattern includes Day Shift/Back Shift with various shifts. Applicants may be considered for similar roles in other locations.
