Job summary

Ocado Group, a world‑leading automation company for online grocery, is seeking an Engineering Maintenance Technician to support pre‑planned and reactive maintenance in our Erith automated fulfilment centre. You will perform maintenance on production equipment, diagnose breakdowns, document work, and assist with root‑cause analysis of failures.

Knowledge of PLCs, SCADA and conveyors is beneficial. This days‑based role requires good communication, organisation, and the ability to work safely at

Qualifications

• A formal engineering qualification would be advantageous.
• Basic technical understanding of automation hardware and software is beneficial.
• Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem solving ability.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, along with organisation and prioritisation.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, conveyors would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on production equipment in an accurate, timely and safe manner.
• Diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and action repairs where possible.
• Update engineering records, including all work carried out, and support root cause analysis of failures, including spares and consumables.
• Ensure the Computerised Maintenance Management System is updated with accurate data to meet KPIs.
• Collaborate with the Engineering team to analyse failures and improve MHE performance.

About the Role

As an Engineering Maintenance Technician, you will play an imperative part in supporting the pre‑planned and reactive maintenance within our state‑of‑the‑art automated fulfilment centre in Erith.

What you will be doing

• carry out maintenance on production equipment in an accurate, timely and safe manner.
• Diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and action repairs where possible.
• Update engineering records, including all work carried out, as well as supporting the identification of root cause of failures. Confirmation of spares and consumables will be part of your role along
• Ensuring the Computerised Maintenance Management System is updated with accurate data to meet Engineering KPIs.
• Collaborate with the Engineering team to analyse engineering failures and find solutions to improve Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) performance.

You will work on a days based shift pattern to support our operation and should be comfortable working at height.

About you

• A formal engineering related qualification would be advantageous.

• Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem solving ability.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, along with good organisation skills and ability to prioritise are essential.
