Job summary

Argent Energy is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader in the UK to drive planned and preventive maintenance across sites. You will lead and develop a team, ensure safety and compliance, and coordinate with planners, reliability engineers, and procurement to deliver on PM schedules.

The role runs Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm with overtime during shutdowns, and a focus on cost-saving improvements and efficient stores management. Experience in energy sectors is valued.

Qualifications

• Trade-based apprenticeship is essential.
• Desirable HNC Mech Eng qualification.
• Safety qualification such as IOSH/NEBOSH is required.
• Mechanical maintenance exp. in Oil/Gas/Chemical industries is essential.
• COMAH site experience is desirable.
• Experience leading teams of contractors and critical spares management.

Responsibilities

Main Purpose of the Role

To lead a team to deal with preventative and planned mechanical maintenance ensuring Operational priorities are met and compliant with health, safety and environment.

The role operates Mon to Fri, 8am to 4pm. Overtime is available, and the maintenance team supports 3x planned shutdowns per year for each UK site, during which key maintenance and major works are carried out within defined time windows with extended hours/weekends for the team to execute.

What you will be doing

1. Execution of planned, corrective and preventative maintenance schedules.

2. Monitor and update the CMS system to ensure tasks are closed, with relevant work history.

3. Oversee the stores process to ensure accurate tracking and management of all maintenance-related inventory, including tools, spare parts, and consumables.

4. Lead, mentor, and motivate the team, including performance management, training and competence assessment to enhance skills and foster development.

5. Lead by example in promoting a safety culture, emphasising the importance of SHE practices

6. Drive continuous improvement within the team, identifying areas for improvement and cost‑saving opportunities.

7. Manage contractors effectively to ensure that all outsourced work is conducted safely, within scope, and up to the organisation’s quality and compliance standards.

Your key relationships will be

• You will work closely with the Planner & Reliability Engineer to ensure PM schedules are captured and completed on time.

• Work with Procurement to ensure we obtain ‘value for money’ from service providers. Ensure the requisition/PO process is used to get the best value possible for Argent.
