Job summary

Transport for Wales is seeking a capable team leader to direct a crew responsible for repairs and examinations on Traction and Rolling Stock, following DMS, VMI and Local Instructions. You will oversee quality checks and ensure training needs are met to keep skills up to date.

The role requires ensuring staff are certified competent and compliant with depot rules, while maintaining competencies and supporting the Production Manager in employee relations and disciplinary matters.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a craftsman role.
• Experience managing resources within a maintenance team.

Responsibilities

• Allocate and direct the team to carry out repairs and examinations on Traction and Rolling Stock per DMS, VMI or Local Instructions.
• Perform quality checks on examinations and identify skill gaps; coordinate with Shift Production Manager for training.
• Ensure staff are certified competent to carry out maintenance tasks and comply with depot instructions.
• Maintain competencies across the workforce.
• Assist Production Manager with employee relations and disciplinary reporting.

Role responsibilities

• To allocate and direct the team under your leadership, ensuring they carry out repairs and examinations on all Traction and Rolling Stock in accordance with the DMS, VMI or Local Instructions, as supplied by the Technical Department.
• Carry out Quality checks on Examinations as per Depot Quality System. Identifying deficiencies within the team skill base and liaising with the Shift Production Manager to ensure training requirements are met.
• Ensure that all staff are certified competent to undertake maintenance tasks as well as any other Depot Working and Technical Instructions.
• Ensure competencies are maintained.
• Assist the Production Manager indeveloping good employee relations and report on disciplinary matters.

• Qualified Craftsmen (Minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent)
• Experience of managing resources
