Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach and develop the Engineering Technicians and Stores team.
- Plan resources and workloads to support production and maintenance priorities.
- Manage performance, training, attendance and team development.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
Maintenance & Reliability
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities.
- Provide technical support for breakdowns and fault finding.
- Drive equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain engineering procedures, SOPs and safe working practices.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning and improvement projects.
Engineering Stores & Cost Control
- Manage Engineering Stores, stock accuracy and critical spare availability.
- Control inventory, purchasing and engineering costs.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to secure required parts and services.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Support engineering projects, equipment upgrades and site improvements.
- Identify and implement improvements to safety, quality, efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate engineering activities with key stakeholders across the business.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality and company requirements.
- Manage contractors, permits to work and risk assessments.
- Support audits and maintain high standards of housekeeping and compliance.
Communication & Reporting
- Communicate engineering priorities, progress and risks.
- Maintain accurate engineering, maintenance and stores records.
- Monitor and report engineering KPI performance.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
Essential
- Level 3 qualification in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience leading or supervising engineering teams.
- Knowledge of planned maintenance, breakdown management and fault finding.
- Understanding of health & safety, risk assessments and permit-to-work systems.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
- Level 4 qualification (HNC or equivalent).
- Experience with engineering stores, stock control and purchasing.
- Experience with PLCs, automation and robotics.
- Experience within plastics, packaging, recycling or a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
- Experience supporting engineering projects and equipment commissioning.
- Knowledge of M3 ERP or a similar maintenance/purchasing system.
Hours: 4 on 4 off 12 hour rotating continental shifts (0600-1800 / 1800-0600)
