Job summary

MMP Consultancy Limited is seeking an experienced Maintenance Surveyor for an interim role based in Sevenoaks, Kent. This contract runs for 3 months to start as soon as possible, paying £30.37 per hour via umbrella over a 37 hour working week.

The role offers hybrid working with an office base in Sevenoaks and requires travel to inspect residential properties. You will carry out property inspections, diagnose defects, scope remedial works, provide technical guidance to internal teams,

Qualifications

• Qualification in Surveying or related discipline.
• Post-qualification experience in property maintenance.
• Knowledge of building pathology and defect diagnosis.
• Experience with housing legislation and CDM Regulations.
• Experience with scoping/remedial works and contractor management.

Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections and surveys to assess condition, safety and compliance.

Managing Consultant – Asset Management, Property Services & Compliance

MMP Consultancy is seeking an experienced Maintenance Surveyor for an interim opportunity based in Sevenoaks, Kent. This is a contract position running for 3 months to start as soon as possible, paying £30.37 per hour via umbrella over 37 hour working week. The role offers hybrid working with an office base in Sevenoaks and requires travel to inspect residential properties.

Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections and surveys to assess condition, safety and compliance.
• Diagnose building defects and identify appropriate repair solutions.
• Scope and specify remedial works and planned improvements.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to internal teams, contractors and stakeholders.
• Oversee repair and maintenance works from inception through to completion.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are completed to the required standards.
• Assess the quality of completed works and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Track progress against agreed programmes, schedules and service standards.
• Ensure homes meet all relevant regulatory and landlord obligations.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and inspection documentation.
• Support the delivery of high‑quality maintenance services and positive customer outcomes.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture across all sites.
• Analyse asset data to identify trends, recurring issues and performance improvements.
• Act as the key technical contact for manufacturers and specialist contractors.
• Monitor installation quality and technical compliance across renewable technology projects.
• Ensure all installations comply with statutory regulations, manufacturer requirements and warranty obligations.
• Support quality assurance activities and challenge poor practice where necessary.

Requirements

• HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Construction or a related discipline.
• Strong post‑qualification experience within property maintenance, repairs or housing.
• Excellent knowledge of building pathology and defect diagnosis.
• Ability to identify root causes and recommend practical repair solutions.
• Understanding of housing legislation, building regulations and compliance requirements.
• Experience acting on the client side of Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations.
• Experience scoping and managing remedial works with contractors and direct labour teams.
• Strong quality inspection and contract monitoring experience.
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and mobile working systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents and contractors.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Ensure accurate and timely commercial reporting.
• Mentor and develop Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
• Support tendering, bid submissions, and pre‑construction activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and commercial best practice across the business.
• Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience using commercial and project management software.
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
• NeBOSH General Certificate.
• NeBOSH Diploma or currently working towards completion.
• Membership of a relevant professional body such as IGEM or CIPHE.
• IOSH qualification or advanced health and safety certification.
• Experience working within social housing, housing associations or property maintenance services.
• Strong IT skills and experience using digital maintenance and repairs systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• CSCS Card.
• Strong understanding of UK construction contracts and commercial practice.
• MRICS, MCIOB, or working towards professional chartership.
